Para Sailing
What is Para Sailing?

Parasailing, also known as Para-ascending, is a recreational activity where a person is towed behind a vehicle (usually a boat or a jeep) while attached to a specially designed parachute, known as a parasail. The boat/jeep then drives off, carrying the para-ascender into the air. If the boat is powerful enough, two or three people can parasail behind it at the same time. The para-ascender has little or no control over the parachute.

There are six parts of a parasail. The harness attaches the pilot to the parasail, which is connected to the boat, or other speeding vehicle, by the tow rope. The activity is primarily an amusement ride, not to be confused with the sport of paragliding.

Parasailing can be practiced by anybody, as it does not require any specific skill. As the flight winds down, the person parasailing ends up in the water/ground, which is considered the safest way to stop a parasailing ride.

As the person parasailing is attached to the parachute with a harness, which facilitates both children and older people to enjoy parasailing. The youngest person in record to go parasailing was 9; the oldest, 87
